In 2025 the sangat marked the Golden Jubilee of the Ramgarhia Board Gurdwara in Wolverhampton: fifty years since its founding in 1975. Over the summer the Gurdwara remembered the founders who made it possible, and in September the whole sangat came together to celebrate.
Fifty years ago, members of the Ramgarhia community in Wolverhampton came together to establish a Gurdwara of their own. Through decades of seva, from the early days at the Ramgarhia Board Sikh Temple to today's home at Rothesay Gardens, that vision has grown into Guru Ka Niwas.
The Golden Jubilee was a chance to give thanks to Waheguru, to honour those who laid the foundations, and to celebrate the sangat who carry the Gurdwara forward today.
On Sunday 20 July 2025 the Gurdwara held a heartfelt remembrance event, paying tribute to the many visionary founders whose dedication laid the foundation of the Gurdwara fifty years ago.
At this Yaad Samagam, collages of the late members who helped establish the Ramgarhia Board Gurdwara were shared with the sangat, a reminder that every Gurdwara is built on the seva of ordinary people. Their commitment continues to inspire us all.
By late August, preparations were in full swing. A Golden Jubilee banner went up outside the Gurdwara, reading "Ramgarhia Board Wolverhampton's 50th anniversary, 1975–2025", and the sangat were invited to help wherever they could.
In early September the Golden Jubilee celebrations filled the Darbar Sahib over several days, with the sangat gathering in large numbers and Guru ka Langar served to all.
The management committee thanked everyone who organised and everyone in the sangat who attended, and the Gurdwara shared nearly a hundred photographs of the celebrations.
As always at Guru Ka Niwas, everyone who came was welcomed to sit together for Langar, served by sevadars of every generation.
Fifty years of Guru Ka Niwas is the work of countless hands. Thank you to the founding members, the management committee past and present, and every sevadar and family who has given their time, love and seva. Here's to the next fifty years.
